Levels of scheduling and calendar management in meeting your client’s/manager’s needs.

As an administrative professional at any level, what one does is manage aspects and details of a professional’s life.  In some cases, it can be completely work related however, as an assistant you must understand the business and personal spectrum of a professional’s life can merge at anytime.  What makes you stand out as the “Dynamic Assistant” is your ability to identify your comfortability level and knowledge on managing these tasks.  It can be as simple as picking up cleaning from the cleaners or as complicated as making sure transportation is accurately arranged at the airport when the flight lands from a family vacation (that you did not schedule) to get your client/manager to a business meeting they scheduled an hour or two after landing.

To be successful in the role and the tasks of calendar management is to clearly understand the expectations of the tasks and your willingness to perform the tasks/assignment at hand. From my experiences I’ve always position myself as a business partner with the professional I worked with. Nothing was insignificant or to tremendous for me to do that was in my realm of assistance. Or course, I know I couldn’t meet with the CEO of a business on my professional ‘s behalf; however, I was able to connect with that CEO’s office in a timely manner to let them know my client is running late and will arrive 20mins after due to deal meetings running over etc. What does this do?  It offers the person time to adjust their calendar to meet the demands of their business.  And allows your client to maintain their business relationship, and for you to be consider a valuable player. Your confidence in yourself and your abilities is key to yours and your client’s success.
